African Girl Miner's Fund: Combating Sexual and Gender-Based Violence in Mining Communities

The African Girl Miner's Fund is an initiative by WIM-Africa aimed to address the prevalent issue of sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) experienced by young girls working in mining communities across Africa. This fund is dedicated to providing resources, support, and interventions to mitigate the risks of SGBV faced by girl miners, ensuring their safety and well-being.

Through the African Girl Miner's Fund, WIM-Africa seeks to implement targeted programs and initiatives designed to raise awareness about SGBV, provide training on safety protocols and self-defence techniques, establish safe spaces and support services for survivors, and advocate for policy reforms to address the root causes of SGBV in mining communities.

By mobilizing resources and fostering collaboration with local partners, governmental agencies, and civil society organizations, the African Girl Miner's Fund endeavours to create a safer and more supportive environment for young girls working in mines, empowering them to assert their rights and pursue their aspirations free from the threat of violence.
