About IWoMA:

Women in Mining Africa (WIM-Africa) is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the working conditions and livelihood opportunities of women artisanal miners in African rural communities. We collaborate with local NGOs, community-based organizations, and other stakeholders to provide support, resources, and capacity-building initiatives for women miners.

Job Description:

Women in Mining Africa (WIM-Africa) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Grant Application Consultant to assist in the preparation and submission of grant proposals. The consultant will work closely with the Executive Director and program managers to identify funding opportunities, develop grant proposals, and submit applications to potential donors.

 

Responsibilities:

1. Research and identify potential funding opportunities from various donors, including government agencies, foundations, and international organizations.

2. Collaborate with program managers to understand project objectives, activities, and budgetary requirements.

3. Develop grant proposals by donor guidelines and requirements, ensuring alignment with IWoMA's mission and objectives.

4. Write compelling narratives, program descriptions, and budget justifications to effectively communicate project goals and outcomes to potential funders.

5. Coordinate with finance and administrative teams to gather necessary documentation and information for grant applications.

6. Review and edit grant proposals for clarity, coherence, and compliance with donor guidelines.

7. Prepare and submit grant applications within specified deadlines, following the organization's internal review and approval process.

8. Maintain accurate records of grant submissions, responses, and funding outcomes.

9. Monitor donor trends and funding opportunities in the development sector, providing updates and recommendations to the Executive Director and program managers.

10. Participate in donor meetings, conferences, and networking events to promote IWoMA's programs and initiatives.

 

 

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., International Development, Nonprofit Management, Communications).

- Proven experience in grant writing and fundraising, preferably in the nonprofit sector or related field.

- Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to craft persuasive and compelling grant proposals.

- Excellent research and analytical abilities, with the capacity to identify funding opportunities and gather relevant information.

- Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities effectively.

- Knowledge of donor requirements, funding mechanisms, and grant application processes.

- Familiarity with gender equality, women's empowerment, and development issues preferred.

- Proficiency in written and spoken English; proficiency in additional languages is a plus.

- Experience working in remote or virtual environments is desirable.
