Women in Mining Africa (WiM-Africa) is proud to announce the launch of its innovative program, “Voices of Children from the Pits.” This groundbreaking initiative is aimed at ensuring the safety, education, and well-being of children in mining communities across Africa.
The “Voices of Children from the Pits” Program is a response to the critical issue of child labor in mines across Africa, where no child should be found. WiM-Africa recognizes the urgent need to protect and empower these vulnerable children, providing them with opportunities for a brighter future outside of hazardous mining environments.
The program encompasses a range of strategies, including awareness campaigns, community engagement, rescue and rehabilitation efforts, education initiatives, policy advocacy, partnerships, and robust monitoring and evaluation mechanisms. By addressing these multifaceted aspects, WiM-Africa aims to make a tangible impact on the lives of children in mining communities in selected locations across Africa.
“This program is a reflection of our commitment to creating positive change and ensuring the well-being of children in mining areas. Every child deserves a safe and nurturing environment to thrive, and we are dedicated to making that a reality,” said Comfort Asokoro-Ogaji, Executive Director of WiM-Africa.
WiM-Africa invites individuals, organizations, and companies to join hands in this important mission. To learn more about the program and how to get involved, please visit www.wimafrica.org/voices-of-children or send us a mail at programs@wimafrica.org
