Dr. Comfort Asokoro-Ogaji
Convener of ARMGI and Executive Director, Women in Mining Africa
Dr. Comfort Asokoro-Ogaji is the convener of the Africa Responsible Minerals & Gender Index (ARMGI) and Executive Director of Women in Mining Africa (WiM-Africa), a continental platform advancing gender-responsive mineral governance, women’s economic empowerment and community-centered development across Africa. Her work spans ESG, safeguards, gender policy and mineral value addition, with growing focus on accountable critical minerals governance.
Through the Twelfth Africa Regional Forum on Sustainable Development (ARFSD-12) side event, she introduced ARMGI as an emerging collaborative accountability framework intended to help strengthen measurable outcomes for women, host communities and responsible minerals governance. Her leadership in convening the dialogue also advanced the next phase of ARMGI, including the proposed Founding Technical Working Group and pilot partnership pathways.
Under her leadership, WiM-Africa has positioned ARMGI as part of a broader African contribution to responsible minerals discourse — linking gender, accountability, host community outcomes and sustainable development through practical, collaborative approaches.
