Ms. Benitha Tambwe
Mining Governance Practitioner and Advocate for Inclusive Mineral Development
Ms. Benitha Tambwe brings practical government and policy experience from the mining sector in the Democratic Republic of Congo, contributing perspectives grounded in governance, mineral development and stakeholder engagement in one of Africa’s most strategically important mineral jurisdictions. Her work reflects the importance of linking mineral wealth with inclusive development outcomes and stronger governance systems.
Through her participation in the Africa Responsible Minerals & Gender Index (ARMGI) dialogue during the Twelfth Africa Regional Forum on Sustainable Development (ARFSD-12), she contributed perspectives on how African actors can strengthen governance pathways so that critical minerals development delivers greater value, stronger inclusion and tangible benefits for mining host communities. Her contribution helped deepen the practical and continental relevance of the ARMGI framework.
Her support to this process also reflects growing alignment between practitioners and Women in Mining Africa (WiM-Africa) around the need for collaborative African solutions in mineral governance. Her engagement contributed to positioning ARMGI not simply as an index concept, but as a stakeholder-driven accountability platform.
