Ms. Madeline R. Young-Touré

Researcher and Advocate for Gender-Responsive Governance in Extractives

Ms. Madeline R. Young-Touré is a respected researcher and advocate working at the intersection of gender, governance and sustainable development, with longstanding engagement on issues affecting women and communities in resource contexts. Her work has contributed to broader international dialogue on inclusion, accountability and justice, particularly in sectors where governance outcomes directly affect vulnerable populations.

As a contributor to the Africa Responsible Minerals & Gender Index (ARMGI) dialogue during the Twelfth Africa Regional Forum on Sustainable Development (ARFSD-12), Ms. Young-Touré brought a valuable research and evidence lens to discussions on how accountability frameworks can help strengthen gender-responsive mineral governance and measurable outcomes for women and host communities. Her contribution helped reinforce the role of knowledge, metrics and learning in shaping ARMGI as an emerging collaborative accountability framework.

Ms. Young-Touré has been a thoughtful supporter of Women in Mining Africa (WiM-Africa) and its mission to advance systems change for women in the extractive sector. Her support to ARMGI reflects shared commitment to building practical pathways where research informs action and accountability strengthens inclusion.
